Abstract
Approximations for the cross-sections describing collisions between heavy systems at moderate velocities of relative motion are considered, rotating axes being used. The relations between the various wave treatments are discussed, it being pointed out, in particular, that that between the Born and the perturbed stationary-state approximation is not as has been generally supposed. Consideration is also given to the corresponding impact parameter treatments.
