Abstract

In this paper, we consider the development of an approximation model for the dynamic conversion of electrical impedance values into the volume of fluid in the chamber of the artificial heart ventricle (AHV). The article provides statistics on the incidence of end-stage chronic heart failure (CHF) in Russia and in the world, as well as data on donor heart transplantation (HT), which is currently called the “gold standard”. The possibilities of widespread use of HT are severely limited by the rapid growth in the number of patients. In Russia, since the beginning of the 21st century, the total number of patients with CHF has increased by 2 times, while the number of patients with end-stage CHF has increased by 3.4 times. Since there is an acute shortage of donor organs in the world, the research and development of mechanical blood circulation support (MBCS) systems is an urgent direction in the field of biomedical engineering. These devices represent a “bridge to transplant” able to support the patient until he receives a donor heart. The most widely used model of the pump was the device that supports the operation of the left ventricle of the heart - left ventricular assistance device (LVAD). The model developed in this paper will be used in a hydrodynamic bench to test new MBCS models. This bench will be able to faithfully simulate the work of the human cardiovascular system by adapting its hydrodynamic parameters.
