Abstract

Genetic Programming methodology is used for the creation of approximation functions in the multipoint approximation method. The approximations are obtained by the response surface methodology. Two important aspects of the problems are addressed: the choice of the plan of experiment and the model tuning using the leastsquares response surface fitting. A test example is presented where the technique is applied to a simple truss optimization problem.
