Abstract

We give an approximate analytical solution of a one-dimensional chemical reaction problem in plane geometry — a finite amount of one chemical is brought into contact with an infinite amount of a second one. The chemical reaction which then starts to take place between these two species is assumed to be instantaneous and irreversible. The movement of the reaction interface is of primary interest. By utilizing the crudest version of the analytic approximation technique we obtain results of acceptable accuracy within a certain range of parameters. This justifies further study of the technique.
