Abstract
This chapter presents approximate methods for calculating the two-dimensional laminar boundary layer with suction. It presents the derivation of momentum and energy integral equations of the boundary layer and the first two compatibility conditions at the surface. The chapter also discusses various methods of obtaining suitable families of velocity profiles for use in approximate methods. It discusses the way in which integral equations and compatibility conditions of the boundary layer can be combined in different ways to produce approximate methods varying in accuracy and ease of application. The chapter discusses methods based on satisfying the momentum and energy equations. It also discusses methods based on the momentum equation and the first and second compatibility conditions at the surface.
