Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to review the present design standards for lateral bracings of Curved I-Girder Bridge, and to propose the new approximate design method. This method is as follows.(1) Lateral bracing forces due to the torsional forces is calcurated from the shearing forces caused by pure torsional moment.(2) Depending on the type of lateral bracing system, lateral bracing forces are produced by the girder action. And these forces are calcurated by the approximate formula.Compared with the analytical result of reference 1), this approximate method has been found to have sufficient accuracy. Additionally, it has been cleared that the distributed action of lateral bracings for torsional load can be accurately calculated by the pseudo box theory.
