Abstract

This paper gives an approximate closed form expression (CFE) for the average eigenvalues of a random interference covariance matrix. The approximate CFEs derived in this paper are then used to obtain simple CFEs for the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the signal-to- interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and the average of the bit error rate (ABER) of a linear minimum mean squared error receiver in a flat fading channel. Transmissions from one desired and two interfering users are considered. All the three users are allowed to have different average powers at the receiver.
