Abstract

During the past several years the utilization of acquisition plans- specifically, approval plans- as well as their selection and management has been given much attention. Research information enables a library to decide whether an approval plan is viable as a collection development tool or to assist in its acquisitions program, and define vendor relations to approval acquisitions. Additionally, the literature is useful to the library which already uses an approval plan but which wants to review those programs offered by other vendors. The purpose of this article is to serve as an overview of the literature in terms of approval acquisitions and vendor relationships.
