Abstract

SUMMARY Appropriate technology has been applied to design automatic test equipment suitable for training electrical engineers particularly in the developing countries. It is based on an eight-bit 32K BBC microcomputer and a custom-programmed function generator. Together with a digital-to-analog converter and analog-to-digital converter, an automatic test bed was developed which has been used to test linear devices whose properties are frequency sensitive such as audio frequency amplifiers and filters. It involves basic instrument programming in Basic and Assembly Code. The result of the test is plotted on-line on the VDU and a hard copy is later dumped on a dot-matrix printer.
