Abstract

Based on the results of 3-D X-ray microtomography measurements, the authors built realistic computer models of graphite/aluminium interpenetrating composites and use them to investigate the representative volume element size for the effective electrical conductivity of such composites. Nonetheless, by averaging the numerical estimates obtained with computer models, one can obtain accurate estimates for the effective properties.
