Abstract
Global crises, technological advancement and social upheaval are igniting a transformation that is ushering in a decade of renewal. Seen from a regional perspective, these changes harbor both opportunities and risks for their players. To meet future challenges collectively, the interaction of regional players from science, economy, society, administration, and the natural environment is indispensable. This paper describes a practice-oriented, scientifically based approach for the establishment and further development of a regional innovation ecosystem for a future-oriented economy and society in the Northern Black Forest. The findings should gradually be transferred into practice and serve as a blueprint for other regions.
