Abstract

Theoretical and methodological principles of regional geoenvironmental mapping are considered. A spatial hierarchy of mapped objects is proposed, and an algorithm for compiling regional geoenviron-mental maps is developed. Geoecological regions and urbosystems are taken as objects of geoenvironmental mapping at a medium scale. Unified legends for the evaluation (the evaluation of the complexity of geotechnical conditions, geoenvironmental assessment of an area) and the advisory maps are proposed. The suggested approach to geoecological mapping is implemented in the case of Smolensk region.
