Abstract

Professor Peter Ucko, Director of the University College Institute of Archaeology (1996–2006), was one of the greatest archaeologists of his generation. His innovative thinking made him the initiator of many developments in archaeology. Peter began his career of editing and publishing with two books based on conferences held at UCL’s Institute of Archaeology The Domestication and Exploitation of Plants and Animals (with G. W.
