Abstract
The World Health Organization (WHO) stepladder remains an important tool in the management of cancer related pain. However since its introduction in 1986, our understanding and treatment of neuropathic pain has evolved. Neuropathic pain is an important component of cancer pain. In advanced stages, one will need to resort to more advanced approaches such as intrathecal administration of medication, neuromodulation and neuroablation.
