Abstract

Urgent complications occurring in lung cancer (LC) patients need to be recognised rapidly in order to give an adequate treatment. The most frequent pathologies are respiratory complications (dyspnoea, bronchial or pulmonary infections, deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, haemoptysis, superior vena cava syndrome), fever (febrile neutropenia), neurological diseases (cerebral events, medullar compression), pain, and gastroenterological pathologies (emesis). These complications can lead the patient to the ICU. The purpose of this article is to review the principal supportive care for LC patients with a focus on emergency and ICU cares.
