Abstract

Recovery of titanium contained in the sands of the Massif Armoricain is possible using a reaction at 900 °C, in a fluidized bed, with thionyl chloride (SOCl2). The amount of extracted titanium is dependent on time and/or the temperature of treatment and on the particle size of ore. The fluidized bed allows the time of treatment to be reduced with respect to the static bed.
