Abstract

AbstractWhen a lysosomal storage disease is suspected, splenomegaly, and/or thrombopenia may lead to the prescription of a bone marrow aspiration. The presence of numerous vacuolated histiocytes in bone marrow is frequent but not specific, in contrary to the observation of Gaucher cells. In bone marrow smears, specific cytologic anomalies of mucopolysaccharidoses are easily detected but its realization is not essential.
