Abstract
AbstractExpanding the scope of its activities to include controlling the safe transport of radioactive materials, the French Nuclear Safety Authortty (ASN) has decided to apply the INES scale to transport events, following a wide-ranging debate bringing together experts, industry and the Conseil Superieur de la Surete et de l'Information Nucleaire (Higher Council for Nuclear Safety and Information). International interest in French experienee has gradually raised the question of harmonised application of the INES scale to transport events by the competent international authorities.
