Abstract
Ship domain (SD) is not a new field of automatic ship control, however, the applicability of these studies is dramatically impressive. Since the 1970s, the first studies on the ship domain have been published and received a lot of positive reflection on this idea. Up to now, this field has developed significantly as never before, the current ship domain models proposed have various alterations in shapes, sizes, and application methods. This paper introduces a new approach to identify the ship domain for developing the effectiveness of the author’s previous suggestion, in which the new idea applies the ship position prediction method. The additional input variables are COG (course of the ground), SOG (speed of ground) to provide a more detailed and secure solution for the novel shape of the ship domain than the previous studies.
