Abstract

In underwater target detection, time reversal method shows its ability to suppress interference and focus energy in a complicated environment. For better sonar detection performance, we borrow the multiple-input-multiple-output structure and apply this concept into time reversal sonar detection. By deploying multiple source/receive arrays, this widely-space detection configuration brings a more accurate or reliable result, by exploiting diversities and data fusion. A TR-MIMO sonar detection scheme is discussed here. Also, preliminary simulation and experiment using two source/receive arrays were conducted and figured out a target with a reliable estimation. A better result will be achieved when using more sophisticated methods as detailed discussion,
