Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the feasibility of applying non-destructive ground penetrating radar system to detect foreign objects buried in the bag stacks of paddy warehouses. Antenna of frequency 300-MHz was adopted to detect foreign objects of metal box, wooden box, and bag stacks of rice husk that were buried in paddy warehouse located in Lu-Chu Farmer's Association, Taoyuan, Taiwan. The deviations of dielectric constants of foreign objects from normal paddy contributed respectively highest, higher and lower radar reflecting signals for metal box, wooden box, and rice husk. The ground penetrating radar system reveals the potential of detecting foreign objects in the paddy warehouses.
