Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to apply fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach to assess the key value activities for ocean freight forwarders (OFFs) in Taiwan. At first, the preliminary value activities are acquired and summarized as two activity systems, and five functional activities with fifteen functional-related activities. Subsequently, the proposed fuzzy AHP approach is used to measure relative weights for evaluating these value activities. Finally, the systematic appraisal approach is to perform the empirical survey via AHP expert questionnaires. The results show that cargo forwarding, container stuff ing work, receiving and checking the bill of lading (B/L), related charges collecting, and financing and accounting, respectively, are the most five important key value activities for OFFs in Taiwan.
