Abstract

The ISO reference model of open distributed processing (ODP-RM) has been increasingly adopted by new service architectures such as the Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture (TINA). However, existing distributed processing technologies such as CORBA (common object request broker architecture) only provide partial support of ODP-RM concepts. This paper presents our experiences building a TINA-like distributed processing environment (DPE) based on CORBA technology to support TINA applications. This DPE has been used to develop a personal multimedia messenger application which was demonstrated at Telecom'95.
