Abstract
Although the log Pearson (LP3) type-3 distribution was recommended specifically for flood-frequency analysis, its applicability to annual maximum rainfall, annual streamflow and annual rainfall was also considered in this study. It was found that the LP3 distribution was applicable in most cases; however, for annual flood and maximum rainfall intensity, the existence of an upper bound to the distribution, in some cases, may cause some concerns, while this fact may indicate the suitability of the LP3 distribution for other variables such as annual streamflow and annual rainfall.
