Abstract

Neutron noise measurements were carried out on Boiling Water Reactors (BWRs) of Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS), using local power range monitors (LPRMs). These measurements were carried out to develop applications of noise analysis for detection of vibrations of instrumentation tubes, transit times of two phase flow and for monitoring the health of LPRMs. 16N noise signals were also used for the determination of coolant flow rate in the recirculation loop of TAPS Unit I. Additionally, neutron noise measurements were also carried out at low powers during the commissioning of Unit I of Madras Atomic Power Project (MAPP), Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR). This paper presents the measurements that were made.
