Abstract

ABSTRACTInternet of Things (IoT) is an environment where physical entities will be connected which can be accessed by means of internet. The Thing in IoT has a uniquely identifiable IP address and can process the information over a network. IoT has developed gradually over the period of time because different technologies have converged in a single platform. The conventional fields of embedded systems, remote sensor systems, and control frameworks also provide contribution to implement IoT. IoT is an emerging technology which not only is contributing to industry but also has opened the path for educational institutes to come up with real time solutions. These newly developed IoT based solutions also increase employment and business opportunities. Considering the present growth and demand of IoT, Centre For Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Bengaluru has also decided to develop IoT Lab kit for the educational institutions where students, faculties and research scholars can do tremendous research and use those particular devices to solve the burning real time problems. The IoT Lab kit developed by C-DAC Bengaluru consists of Wi-Fi Mote, Ubimote, BLE Mote, UbiSense and WINGZ. This paper describes the technical specifications, real time applications and use cases and the research opportunities of the devices as a part of the IoT Lab kit.
