Abstract

Objective To investigate the high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) manifestations of endometrial carcinoma, and evaluate the value of high-field MRI in preoperative staging and postoperative evaluation of endometrial carcinoma. Methods The MRI manifestations of 45 patients with endometrial carcinoma who were proved by uterine curettage or postoperative pathology were retrospectively analyzed. The diagnosis results and stage of preoperative MRI were compared with postoperative pathological findings. Results Pathological findings in 45 patients: 18 cases were at stage I, 20 cases were at stage Ⅱ, 6 cases were at stage Ⅲ, 1 case was at stage IV. There were 41 cases whose preoperative judgment for staging were coincident with pathological findings, and the total accuracy was 91.1%; 1 case was judged excessively, 3 cases were judged shallowly by MRI. Postoperative recurrence was found in 2 cases and lymphatic cyst in 3 cases. Conclusions High-field MRI has high value in assessing the extent of invasion, preoperative staging and postoperative evaluation, so it is a reliable method of preoperative diagnosis, classification and postoperative evaluation of endometrial carcinoma. Key words: High-field magnetic resonance imaging; Endometrial carcinoma; Preoperative staging; Postoperative evaluation
