Abstract

This paper analyzes the inherent contradictions that exist in most of the conventional approaches disposing of dishware problem in student refectory, and presents an effective approach, based on axiomatic design (AD) and systematic inventive thinking (SIT). In the process of searching for a cost effective solution, the hierarchy framework of AD provides a framework for the application of SIT and a logical structure for problem orientation of SIT. SIT is introduced into the AD framework for removing functional dependency and searching for an uncoupled design, when the system hierarchy has been created and the interdependent functional requirements (FRs) have been found out by AD framework. SIT provides a set of thinking tools and principles. Thinking tools can lead designers to break the conventional thinking pattern and also shorten the path for a satisfied solution. Through the proposed uncoupling procedure, we can obtain a solution avoiding measuring functional dependency, harmonizing parameters, or searching substitutable technological ideas. The operational solution to dishware problem avoids the disadvantages of very poor cost effectiveness and crowded student refectory. The developed concept is based upon enlisting the students to disposing of the dishware problem successfully by taking away the dishware by the way after dinning. The detailed technological and operational concept is described, including: operation modes, implementation method, 3D representation of student refectory etc.
