Abstract

AbstractA vibronic model is applied to the stress‐induced polarization of the F‐center emission, and a comparison of calculations is made with experimental results by Hetrick and Compton [2]. A value obtained for a stress coupling constant with Eg, symmetry is consistent with parameters previously estimated from comparison of a model to experiments of magneticfield induced circular polarization and Stark effect. The temperature dependence of the stress‐induced polarization can be explained by assuming that an odd‐parity internal field changes with temperature.
