Abstract

Ultrasonic velocity and density of ternary system of heptadecane, hutanol and DMSO as a function of composition and temperature have been measured. The experimental values of ultrasonic velocity are compared with various theoretical models predicted on the basis of free-length theory, ideal-mixing relation, Nomoto relation and Flory theory. There exists a good agreement between the experimental values of ultrasonic velocities and those obtained theoretically by using free-length theory and ideal mixing relation.
