Abstract
Abstract A modern discontinuous control strategy, based on variable-structure systems control, is proven to be vastly more efficient than the commonly used (optimal) on-off control without the need for additional hardware. It may be acheived, however, on the expence of a higher actuator switching frequency. A wider application in energy control and management systems is suggested.
