Abstract

Objective To explore the value of tuning fork,nylon yarn,pain and ankle reflex in screening of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).Methods To collect 200 cases of type 2 diabetes in the clinics of our hospital from Februarv 2013 to October 2013.Every patient was examined with tuning fork,nylon yarn,pain and ankle reflex.Then we compared the four kinds of screening with the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,Youden index and Kappa values by taking MNSI as standard.Result The consistency and authenticity of two or more combined above screening examinations for DPN were good.Conclusion Four kinds of screening methods for DPN are simple,economical and efficient.Combination with two or more tests can significantly improve the sensitivity and accuracy in clinical screening for DNP.
