Abstract

Objective To explore the application of three-dimensional (3D) animation of electrocardiography (ECG) waveform in ECG Diagnosis teaching. Methods Three-dimensional modeling is used to build the instant comprehensive vectorcardiogram (VCG), VCG ring and its two step projections . This animation modeling method is further applied in the ECG class teaching. After school, the teaching effects and student learning experience for using this animation are collected for evaluation. Results Simulation of ECG waveform formation by three-dimensional computer animation can elaborate the principles of ECG waveform generation in a simple and clear way. This method not only breaks down the difficulties encountered during ECG teaching, but also saves time and greatly enhances the teaching and learning efficiency. Conclusions The process of ECG waveform formation can now be presented in a vividly dynamic manner by computer 3D animation. The animation has been achieved promising results in ECG teaching.
