Abstract

Globally, the pump efficiency and performance tests by thermodynamic method began to be widely used in industrial fields a decade ago. However, this method is still not a general one in municipal pump stations of China. At present, there is no dedicated testing standard to ensure the test progress with reliable quality control, and many pump stations lack experience to carry out independent tests. So it's necessary to put forth some general guidelines to help and promote the development of the related fields in China. Through the pump efficiency assessment and research in multi-cities and multi-stations, this study involved 152 testing in 41 pump stations. Among them, 57 pumps are tested by thermodynamic method and conventional method simultaneously. Through analyzing the situ testing data, and comparing the thermodynamic method with conventional methods taking magnetic and ultrasonic flow meter, plenty of precious experiences on both methods have been obtained. Moreover, by addressing and summarizing the variant issues in the testing progresses, the general guidelines in pumping test by thermodynamic have been put forth by Hydra Tek. Test results further clear the applicable conditions and scope of the thermodynamic method.
