Abstract

As a controlled blasting technique which can maintain slope stability, the pre split blasting has been widely used in the railway, highway, water conservancy constructions and mining. The key to achieve good blasting results is to control the blast hole charge weight. Generally, the determination of the explosive charge is mainly in view of the compressive strength of rock in the pre split blasting. The influence of the rock's weak planes such as joint and crack are not taken into account in blasting. However, the integrity of rock is a significant factor in the pre split blasting. Based on the rock pre split blasting in the DK689+450~DK689+640 section of the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway, the ultrasonic wave velocities of rock were detected, and the compressive strength and the ultrasonic wave velocity were used to control linear charging density. The experiments indicate that the ultrasonic wave velocity of rock can be introduced to improve the quality of pre split blasting. It is the first time using the ultrasonic wave velocity of rock testing in the spot to guide blasting charge.
