Abstract

A novel experimental method for investigation of the time evolution of nuclear reactions in the range 10−15–10−10 s is presented. This method is based on the phenomenon of energy loss of charged particles in solids. The possibility of the employment of the new technique to study the time characteristics of the heavy nucleus fission process in the near-threshold energy range, formation and decay of short-lived spontaneously fissionable isomers and excited superheavy nuclei was analysed.
