Abstract

We propose an automated method aimed at the analysis of the shapes and dimensions of ductile tear pits formed in the process of fracture of VT23 titanium alloy. This method can be used in the systems of technical diagnostics. We develop some approaches to the analysis of the images of fracture surfaces obtained with the help of a scanning microscope. The proposed method enables us to distinguish the components of the investigated objects, perform their morphological analysis, and establish the relationships between these components.
