Abstract

In this paper the linear and nonlinear inversion algorithms are applied to reconstruct a complicated target immersed in water from the experimental elastic wave data. The applied algorithms are the linear synthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT), the nonlinear contrast source inversion (CSI) algorithm and the CSI algorithm with extended approaches. The inversion results, which are presented and compared in the acoustic wave mode and the pressure and vertically polarized shear (PSV) wave mode, exhibit the advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms and prove that the CSI algorithm with extended approaches is a promising method for solving the elastic inverse scattering problem.
