Abstract

The Kamlet and Taft model is presented in terms of its application in solvent extraction of metals. The following aspects are discussed: (i) effect of diluents upon distribution of extractants; (ii) properties of mixed hydrocarbon diluents and their effect upon solubility of copper(II) complexes with β-diketones; (iii) distribution of different metal complexes with the same ligand or family of ligands; (iv) effect of diluents upon stability of metal chelate adducts with neutral ligand.
