Abstract

Infinitesimal deformation approach has been used to predict the phenomenological crystallographic parameters such as amount of lattice invariant shear, magnitude of total shape deformation, indices of habit planes, etc. associated with martensitic phase transformation cubic to orthorhombic observed in the alloy Cu–Al–Ni. The values obtained for the crystallographic parameters in the present study and those from the phenomenological W–L–R theory were calculated. These values obtained from the present study, the phenomenological theory and experiments were compared.
