Abstract

Tickling and INDOR experiments are performed with a frequency swept, field/frequency locked high resolution proton magnetic resonance spectrometer, on a simple AB case and on an ABCD case with quadrupolar broadening due to N 14. It is shown that the INDOR technique has in the last case definite advantages which permit the determination, in magnitude and sign, of the coupling between protons 2 and 6 in 3-acetylpyridine, in spite of the quadrupolar broadening. The result obtained is J 26 = −0.21 cps.
