Abstract

The generalized magneto-ionic theory of Booker is applied to the propagation of radio waves at the magnetic dip-poles of the earth, to obtain rigorous values for the levels of reflection in the ionosphere, of the magneto-ionic components. The propagation is discussed for various angles of incidence and for operating frequencies greater and less than the magneto-ionic frequency. The application of these results for finding out the maximum usable frequency for a given transmission distance at the magnetic dip-poles is indicated.
