Abstract
This paper presents a method for using a rule-based expert system for the control of several technological processes in sugar production. The structure and principle of the expert controller are shown. Extraction, crystallisation and process co-ordination were chosen for practical implementation of the expert system as processes which are very difficult to control by classical means. Some experience from the implementation in the sugar factory in Lovosice is presented.
