Abstract

The paper makes a review of the concept of lifelong learning and sets out the main points in the continuing education and training activities in contemporary conditions of general globalization and aspirations in the establishment of knowledge-based economies distinguished by high competitiveness and innovativeness. The educational system of the Republic of Bulgaria is analyzed and conclusions and recommendations are made regarding the development of a national conceptual framework of vocational training which is put in the focus of the acquirement of knowledge, skills and competences according to the demand of the real practice.
