Abstract

This paper presents the preliminary results of the supersonic air plasma torch development for powder materials spraying. The pilot experiments on measurement the particles velocity of the disperse phase of high-temperature heterogeneous flow showed that the use of supersonic regime of the thermal plasma flow enabled more than a 1.5 increase in the average velocity of the sprayed particles. We also compare the properties of nickel-based coatings sprayed at subsonic and supersonic modes.
