Abstract

Far-infrared absorption and Raman spectra of ortho- and meta-disubstituted benzene ClC 6H 4Cl, ClC 6H 4Br, and BrC 6H 4Br from 15 to 250 cm −1 at different temperatures (80–300 K) are discussed. From spectroscopic evidence, one phase transition is found for the ortho- (200 K) and the meta-dichlorobenzene (220 K), and two for the ortho-chlorobromobenzene (185 and 222 K). ∗ ∗ Some of these results will be published in the Canadian Journal of Chemisrry—1978.
