Abstract

Some nuclear and radiographic techniques used for the study of concrete are described. Gamma-ray transmission method was used for studying the variation in density of concrete caused by settling in columns. Moisture content of concrete was determined by the neutron scattering technique and the distribution of cement was studied by radioactive tracer analysis. A judicious use of such methods can provide information necessary for an engineering analysis of many problems.
