Abstract

A procedure for purification of rhodium based on its extraction from dilute hydrochloric acid solution by dinonylnaphthalenesulphonic acid in n-heptane has been developed. Separation of the element from iridium, platinum, palladium and silver has been shown to be essentially complete. A scaled-up version of the procedure could be incorporated with advantage into the process for the commercial refining of rhodium.
