Abstract

ABSTRACTWe describe here a simple, rapid and sensitive method for the quantitation of carbofuran, a carbamate insecticide, in plasma or serum using gas chromatography equipped with a nitrogen-phosphorus detector and a head-space solid phase microextraction (SPME) technique. The SPME fiber used was coated with a polydimethylsiloxane (thickness, 100 pm). The absolute recovery of carbofuran in this SPME method was 2.0 ± 0.12%. Linearity was obtained in the ranges of 0.1–10 μg/mL in serum and its detection limit was 0.05 μg/mL.
