Application of Short-time Energy Method in the Analysis of Mechanical Vibration Signal of Circuit Breaker

Abstract

In the analysis of mechanical vibration signal of circuit breaker, the extraction of vibration event is an effective method for the signal time domain analysis and a reliab1e way to realize the fault diagnosis of the circuit breaker. The vibration signal is similar to the speech signal, both of them belong to the non-stationary signal, so in this paper, the short-time energy method is used in the analysis of vibration signal, after given the selection princip1 a of window function and window length, then analysis the effect of the method in improving signal SNR (Signal- Noise Ratio), highlighting and extracting the vibration events and compare with other method, the result shows that the short- time energy method not only can significantly improve the signal JVR, but also an effective way to extract the occurrence of vibration events.
